Day 14 – Land’s End to John O’Groates – DONE!  (19/08/23)

Day 14 delivered truly terrible weather and certainly the worst we had ever ridden in.
If at home, you would not even venture outside to put the rubbish bins out.

The combination of rain and wind made it feel like we were in a washing machine.
We rode as a tight group of 8 to try and get some protection from the wind but it was a challenge to even see where you were riding.
Within minutes of leaving the hotel we were all soaked through.

We pushed on slowly – but surely – for a little over 2 hours to completion.  We have never been so pleased to see a signpost.

14 days in the saddle, covering 1009 miles, up hill & down dale, in varying weathers, with the inevitable mechanical challenges…………and we have done it!

We have exceeded our sponsorship target.

We have achieved a personal goal in completing the LEJOG .

We still cannot quite believe either of these.

We think of the reasons we chose the British Heart Foundation charity and just well up with tears.

We have worked hard to achieve this but feel blessed to be returning home to our families when many families have faced such tragedy that means they struggle on with a loved one lost.

Let us hope the little we have done will help more families remain complete for longer.
