Day 9 – A real Bone-Shaker (14/08/23)
Well it would be fair to say that after yesterday’s long, hilly leg, today we were all a little fatigued……. so it was a pleasure to have a flatish route with only one real significant climb; but a climb which was amazing!
Once again some of the views were absolutely stunning.
We had a lovely tea stop by a lake and had a brew with some of the local bowls players.
We then had another rolling few miles to Moffat and the BuccleuchHotel which is a motorcycle mecca and run by a lovely family…. even the dog has his own space on his dads tourer😊
After lunch we then had a climb, followed by a very ‘bumpy’ ride along the cycleways; our whole bodies were vibrating.
After 9 days it is not surprising that the whole group has gelled with new friendships being made. One we regularly ride with is ‘Iceman’ Mike who insists that we should have an ice cream at some point…every day!
The only stop on today’s leg was Tesco, but it did the trick. Hopefully tomorrow we will find a more traditional proper good ice cream stop. This is one of those quirky things that we will miss next week when this adventure is over.
Our fellow riders are all a good bunch and a good laugh.
The group have a limerick competition sort of going on so I was thinking of one for our ride guide Mick🤦♀️🤣
The route to our Hotel took us through Strathclyde Country Park, on the outskirts of Motherwell just south of Glasgow. This is definitely a ‘wow’ place and is absolutely stunning.
Hopefully we’ll get a much needed good nights sleep tonight before tomorrow’s 75 mile leg from Hamilton to Tyndrum.
Our British Heart Foundation charity fundraising Total is currently at £2,394 and we would like to thank everyone who has donated and supported us.
